MINT announces the solo exhibition, Falling Stranger for MINT Leap Year Fellow NATALIE ESCOBAR, held at The Flatiron Building in Downtown Atlanta. MINT’s Leap Year Program provides three emerging artists per year with studio space, mentors, exhibition support, a solo exhibition, and more.
Natalie Escobar is an artist living and working in Atlanta, Georgia. She was raised in Austin, Texas and rural North Georgia. Escobar graduated from SCAD Atlanta in 2013 with a BFA in painting. She paints imaginary environments involving her absent father, her lost Salvadorian family’s history, and her own biracial identity. Her paintings utilize a personal visual symbology: lush tropical leaves, snakes, grates, and chains. An isolated figure often peeks through the chaos within the paintings, rarely revealing their identity. Falling Stranger is Escobar’s first solo exhibition.
