MINT was the first W.A.G.E.-certified organization in Georgia
W.A.G.E. (Working Artists and the Greater Economy) is a national organization focused on regulating the payment of artist stipends by nonprofit art institutions and establishing a sustainable model for best practices between artists and the institutions that contract their labor. Their current roster of organizations includes The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Art Institute of Chicago, MOMA, The Guggenheim, and MINT.
The state of Georgia has the 49th lowest per capita arts funding in the U.S. (National Assembly of Arts Agencies), which means organizations like MINT must step up to fill the gap. MINT’s commitment to supporting artists, demonstrated through our W.A.G.E. certification, sets MINT apart from other organizations across the state. Instead of only compensating artists when artwork sells, MINT pays our artists for the creation of work - whether it sells or not. This is especially important in supporting artists who create ephemeral or performance art that can not be purchased.
